Hermes — private personal assistant · Last updated 12 October 2026
What this application is
Hermes is a private, single-user automation tool operated by Brecht Missotten. It is not a public product: there is no sign-up, no third-party user base, and no functionality offered to anyone other than its owner.
What data it accesses, and why
With the account owner's explicit consent, obtained through Google's OAuth 2.0 consent flow, the application accesses that same owner's own Google account in order to:
- read and manage Gmail messages, so it can summarise them for the owner;
- read and create Google Calendar entries, so it can surface and schedule the owner's own commitments;
- read Google Contacts, so it can match names to the people the owner already communicates with.
Access is limited to the scopes described above. Consent can be revoked at any time from the Google Account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions), which stops all access immediately.
How the data is used
Solely to produce summaries, reminders, to-do and calendar updates for the account owner. No automated decisions are made about any third party, and no data is used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending purposes.
Where the data goes
No third parties. Data is processed on infrastructure controlled by the account owner, is never sold, rented, traded or otherwise disclosed, and is never used to train machine-learning models.
Limited Use disclosure. Hermes' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention
Message and calendar data is retained locally only for as long as needed to produce the summaries and reminders the owner has asked for. Stored data can be deleted on request, and revoking the OAuth grant ends all processing.
